The Truth is on the Back Roads.
The Truth is on the Back Roads.
About Me
My name is John Morris, and I’m a born-and-bred New Yorker with a passion for storytelling. I graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in Political Science and Film. I have worked in various kitchens in New York and the Northeast, and can often be found driving across the country and visiting all but two states.
I love cooking, and have written several food-related pieces for both my college newspaper and NYC’s The Indypendent. I’m interested in the world of fiction, and particularly the ways in which music can influence a story or tell one of it’s own. Beyond that, I’m interested in the story of this country and the people who call it home, as well as those who have been excluded from this privilege.
I’m fascinated by the uniqueness of modern American life, from the systems of power to the many shades of culture, as well as the history of travel and development that has shaped this country into what it is today.
I believe there’s always something to be learned by taking the local roads instead of the expressway, and infinite value in listening to a stranger’s story. Every human on this Earth has lived a life worth hearing about, and the truth that comes from those lived experiences is what makes a story worth telling.
In a time where it seems easier than ever to silence or rewrite someone’s story, I believe that it’s more important than ever to listen to each other and understand that the ties that bind us will always be stronger than the issues that divide us.
If you feel like you have a story worth telling, then I want to help you share your truth with the world.
